The controversy over two Moribund ferries procured by NASSIT has not been resolved.

In the meantime, the Management of Sierra Ferries, the group that NASSIT contracted to manage the said ferries has reportedly sacked some eighty four workers.

Responding to the development, A Senior Staff Of Sierra Ferries who declined to state his name, denied the quoted number of workers sacked.

He however could not state the number of workers sacked on both MV Bai Bureh and MV Mahera.

"There is not work to be done on the ferries so we cannot continue to pay people for doing nothing," a source at NASSIT's Public Education Section had said.

Asked what is the state of the ferries, the Sierra Ferries official also declined to commit.

"Go to NASSIT they will tell you," he said.

It has been however gathered that work to get the ferries operational is ongoing as public doubt over the staggering millions of dollars NASSIT investment is yet to be allayed.
