The Final Commissioning Of the Bumbuna Hydro Electric Project will take place on November 6, 2009 according to reliable sources.
Mohamed Borbor, Chief Information person in the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, said when President Ernest Koroma assumed office in September 2007, the project was at a standstill.
30 million euros were owing for work which had been pre-financed, but no funds were in place to complete the project.
"The President's First visit (to Bunbuna) was in October 2007. He made payments to all contractors for completed work by February 2008" The PRO said.
The President has paid 6 working visits to the site since 2007. The NPA power transmission system at Kingtom is now complete and the Bumbuna Power Generator Company has been formed and registered.
All those due to be relocated have received their moving allowance at $400 and three months food aid. Property owners will receive due compensation for properties in the near future. |
