It is apparent that contrary to President Koroma's wish for attitudinal and behavioural change among citizens, the days of vouchergate are raising their ugly heads again.
Those were the days when, after civil servants would have defrauded the State, files pertaining to the matters would just mysteriously disappear.
And it is also clearly evident that rogue Nigerians are having a field day in this country because they think that the average Sierra Leonean can be bought for a pittance.
Two files relating to a massive fraud at the Communications Warehouse Company in which a Nigerian couple, Adebawola and Olufela Adeyemi are alleged to have transferred cash to the tune of Le1.6bn from the company and transferred some to Nigeria and gave some more to a known crook for safekeeping, have just suddenly disappeared.
The couples were arrested on 3rd October, 2009 and since that time investigations have not been concluded. At the CID, this press was told that the files have been passed on to the Law Office but they the Law Office, have denied knowledge of it.
This press has found out that although the couples passports are in the custody of the Master and Registrar of the High Court, they made an approach to the Austrian Consulate here for a visa to escape to that country. |
