Sunday September 11th saw those who are responsible for this country's justice system marching in oneness. As embedded in the Sierra Leone Constitution, the operation of the Judiciary is divided into sessions with the September session being the longest.
During the recess the High Court closes but not totally because there is always a vacation judge who sits on matters.
All Magistrate Courts continue as normal. They are not affected by the vacation. At the end of the September recess members of the Judiciary and all other stakeholders in the justice system including the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Inspector General of Police, lawyers and all court staff join in Friday Moslem prayers which now traditionally takes place at the Central Mosque, Wilberforce Street and the following Sunday they congregate at the Cathedral Church, George Street to offer prayers to the Almighty God.
President Koroma was at the Cathedral service to grace the occasion. |
