25th January 2010.

 The Office of the Ombudsman, with support from the Justice Sector Development Programme (JSDP) is embarking on a week-long staff training programme commencing from Monday 25th to Friday 29th January 2010 at the Office conference room, 43 Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown.

The training is geared towards supporting the work of the Office of the Ombudsman and making it functional and effective by strengthening the capacity of staff.

The sessions throughout the week will also help new staff develop technical and practical tools required for effective complaints handling, investigations, communications, report writing, IT skills and records management, with particular reference to the implementation of the Five Year Strategic Plan (2009-2013) OF THE Office. The training is being facilitated by Professor Victor Ayeni from the United Kingdom.

While building and enhancing top-quality investigative skills, with innovative and practical tools for handling complaints, the training will also introduced participants to leading ideas in international Ombudsmanship and their relevance to the situation in Sierra Leone.
