A 65 years-old granny speaking in Susu, on Monday, 18th January, with tears streaming down her cheeks, told a petition court presided over by Appeals Court Judge, Hon. Justice Nicholas Browne-Marke, of her kidnap ordeal on Saturday, 5th December, 2009, the day the chieftaincy election for Lokomasama Chiefdom was held.

Speaking through an interpreter, the skinny looking Adama Kamara, a trader from Urrka Wharf, in the Lokomasama Chiefdom, told the jam-packed court of how, after the first round of the election which was won by petitioner, Mohamed Bai Sama Kamara, a man called Alhaji Alimamy Wurie invited her to a house which was fenced.

"As soon as I entered," Frail Adama Kamara said, "the gate was shut behind me".

She explained that during her abduction she missed out on her five daily prayers.

"I was held captive until night," the poor woman who was led in evidence by barrister, Osman Jalloh Esq, told the court, "by the time I was released, the election was over".

The 65 year-old woman was testifying in the petition matter brought by Bai Sama Kamara against his opponent, Bai Maro Kamara and the National Electoral Commission, contesting the legitimacy of the election.

Another witness in the matter, Abu Bakarr Sillah, a farmer, also told the court that he too was held captive for some six hours by supporters of Bai Maro Kamara.

In written statements, two police officers attached to the Lungi Division, ASP Elijah Moses and Inspector Abdul Rahman Kanu, confirmed the kidnappings.
