From President Ernest Bai Koroma's countenance before the delivery of his speech at an emergency meeting at State House past Wednesday, one could tell without any doubt that, he is full of regrets so early in his presidency.

His looks showed that of a broken man, tired and in doubt as to the way forward. Surely, if you are a mind reader, H.E. must be saying to himself, why did I not think before appointing such a bunch of people who will later stab me on my back. You could only feel sorry for him.

During his speech, he kept his head bowed most of the time, unlike him who likes to see the faces of his audience while he is talking to them. That tells a lot: firstly he was surrounded by the very people who are supposed to carry the can for all the corrupt practices in their respective departments.

How could he look them on the face and tell them that they have betrayed him? Second, his mind-set was that of a man cornered who wanted out but who knows that out will definitely have its repercussions in the form of a backlash.

Thirdly, he, the architect of 'Attitudinal Change' was here now telling his subjects, a five million of them, that that dream or vision is nothing but hot air. No change and no gain.

But you still have to give H.E. credit because, he did come out fighting. He showed who was boss by telling the 'Brutuses' that he will make them face the full force of the law for their misdemeanor.

That was brave considering it was him that had been kow-towing all this time.

Hope he will be brave enough to put his words into action… then this country may probably start to sleep easy.
