Concern Worldwide on Tuesday, 9th February, launched a competition which is geared towards finding solutions to the high rate of infant and pregnant women's death.
The theme chosen, "Everyone Can Save A Life" epitomizes the competition itself in which people from all works of life can participate.
According to the Innovation Manageress of Concern Worldwide, Ms. Ryann Manning, the solutions to solve these problems are in the hands of the Sierra Leonean people.
She disclosed that most nurses blame the problem on poor conditions of work and lack of medicines, whereas patients blame nurses' attitudes towards their work. The Country Director of Concern Worldwide, Mr. Manoj Kumar, told journalists at the press conference held at the Mamba Pont Hotel, Wilberforce, that the competition is for attracting new ideas for a problem that has defied medical thinking. He said the deaths can be prevented if only the right thing is done.
The competition will last until 5th March 2010 and cash prizes of Le10m each will be given to three winners. |
