Marampa Mines which was described as 'the sleeping giant of Port Loko District' by the Managing Director of London Mining Company, Mr. David F. Keili, was last Thursday, 11th March, woken from its slumber.

Crowds including H.E. President Ernest Bai Koroma, the Minister of Mineral Resources and Political Affairs, Hon. Alhaji Alpha Kanu, the London Mining PLC. Team and London Mining officials including its abled Information Officer, Ms. Josephine Saidu, Paramount Chiefs, other government Ministers journalists and Parliamentarians gathered in the hot burning sun of the compound of London Mining Company, Lunsar, to altogether 'exorcise' the giant from its hibernation.

London Mining which has invested a mammoth US$20m to put up infrastructure to the benefit of locals is pouring another US$80m this year to start operations in earnest.

President Ernest Bai Koroma who sounded gleeful as he gave the keynote address during the ceremony, did not mince matters by telling the crowd that the occasion was a milestone.

"Many companies have come and gone but none was brave enough to invest in such a profitable business".

The C.E.O. of London Mining Company, Mr. Graeme Hossie, disclosed that by 1st quarter in 2011, the company will be in production starting with 3m metric tones rising to over 8m tones in 2012.
