Minister of Information and Communication, I.B. Kargbo, has pledged to introduce draft legislation for a FREEDOM of INFORMATION ACT early in the New Year.
He was speaking at the IMC Residential Workshop in Freetown recently.
If the Minister is truly serious, we could expect Cabinet to ratify a draft for discussion if only the few following points are overlooked.
1. Freedom of Information would enable us to discover how senior APC politicians are building BIG MANSIONS here, there and everywhere.
2. Documents relating to massive DRUG and RICE contracts in Defence will now be open to public scrutiny...
3. We will be able to lay our hands on specifications for the CT Scanner, Health advertised for - without contacting anyone.
4. We;ll find out why LOGUS was sacked.
5. The true story of the National Security Agency’s COCAINE TRAIL might lead to certain, as if yet, uncharged persons.
6. We’ll confirm JOHN BRIMA as 63 this year...
7. Gifts of more than Le5 million should be reported to ACC... so we’ll tie those down right away.
8. Who’s getting a small pay off for WANZA’s money? Enquiring minds would like to know.
9. How many of the Offices of Diaspora people actually hold E C S E’s is a matter we’ll be able to investigate...
10. How much money is ACHA worth? Roll on.... Freedom of Information! |
